On May 15th, a press conference for the 23rd China Animal Husbandry Expo and the 2026 China International Animal Husbandry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Animal Husbandry Expo”) was held in Chengdu. Sha Yusheng, Secretary General of the China Animal Husbandry Association; Su Hong, Deputy Director of the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition; Zheng Weiwei, Chief of the Chengdu Municipal Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Team; Fu Wendong, General Manager of Sichuan Tianfu International Convention and Exhibition Co., Ltd.; and Yang Ping, Assistant Secretary General of the China Animal Husbandry Association, attended the event. The 23rd Animal Husbandry Expo will be held from May 18th to 20th at the Western China International Expo City in Chengdu.

Sha Yusheng pointed out that Chengdu is a major economic center in western China and an important base for the transformation and upgrading of the animal husbandry industry. Its outstanding location, industry, and exhibition resources provide a solid foundation for the holding of this Animal Husbandry Expo. He stated that the Animal Husbandry Expo has been successfully held for 22 sessions, consistently ranking first in Asia and second in the world in terms of scale, making it a top-level annual event in the animal husbandry industry. Themed “Showcasing New Business Models, Sharing New Achievements, Enhancing New Momentum, and Leading New Development,” this year’s Livestock Expo covers an exhibition area of ​​180,000 square meters, bringing together over 1,400 enterprises from more than 20 countries worldwide, including leading companies across the entire industry chain.

Zheng Weiwei stated that in recent years, Chengdu has focused on building a modern livestock and poultry breeding system and a modern processing and distribution system, vigorously developing large-scale, standardized breeding, and green integrated farming, continuously improving the security of livestock and poultry product supply, and promoting high-quality development of animal husbandry. This Livestock Expo should be used as an opportunity to learn from the experiences and practices of advanced regions and accelerate the improvement of shortcomings and weaknesses in industrial development.

Su Hong stated that Chengdu attaches great importance to the introduction and implementation of this Livestock Expo, regarding it as an important platform for empowering modern agriculture and strengthening the exhibition economy. The city has coordinated all parties to refine and improve the entire process of support services, including venue operation, transportation organization, logistics, and publicity. Meanwhile, Chengdu’s exhibition industry continues to upgrade its capabilities, and its capacity to host exhibitions is constantly increasing. In the near future, it will host several major national and industry-level exhibitions and events, further amplifying the agglomeration effect of its exhibition platform, consolidating and enhancing Chengdu’s influence as an international exhibition city, and empowering the city’s high-quality industrial and economic development through exhibitions.

As Asia’s largest and the world’s second-largest comprehensive livestock industry exhibition, the Chengdu Livestock Expo will further promote the integration of national livestock resources, technological innovation, and industrial upgrading, helping Chengdu build a modern agricultural industry hub with national influence.

This year’s Livestock Expo focuses on eight core highlights, including an upgraded exhibition scale, a showcase of livestock science and technology innovation achievements since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a plan for high-quality development of the livestock industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, a comprehensive presentation of smart farming, public promotion of livestock products and delicacies, public welfare empowerment for rural revitalization, cooperation and matchmaking between China and Uzbekistan in the livestock industry, and multi-party collaborative support for the event.

Highlight 1: Exhibition Reaches New Heights and Levels

The exhibition covers nearly 180,000 square meters with over 8,300 booths, with a special booth rate exceeding 92%. It attracts over 1,400 companies from more than 20 countries worldwide, with delegations from over ten provinces in China participating. It is expected to draw over 100,000 professional visitors and host nearly 100 supporting events, making it the largest single-exhibition event in terms of area, number of leading enterprises, and international influence.

Highlight 2: Systematically Showcasing and Promoting Livestock Science and Technology Innovation and Application Achievements Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China

The exhibition systematically presents the achievements in livestock science and technology innovation since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, collecting 333 award-winning achievements, 158 new livestock and poultry breeds, 52 new veterinary drugs, and 1,340 patents. These cover key areas such as germplasm innovation, disease prevention and control, smart farming, and green and low-carbon development, comprehensively showcasing the industry’s technological strength.

Highlight Three: Strategic Planning for High-Quality Development of Animal Husbandry during the 15th Five-Year Plan Period

The 3rd High-Quality Development Conference of Animal Husbandry, themed “Unprecedented Changes in a Century, Building Consensus to Meet Challenges, and Transformation and Upgrading for New Development,” emphasized “high-quality, innovative, practical, and integrated” development. It focused on new quality productivity, seed industry revitalization, intelligent farming, and supply chain synergy, clarifying the path for industrial upgrading.

Highlight Four: Comprehensive Focus on Smart Farming

The 5th Smart Animal Husbandry Development Conference systematically summarized the achievements of the 14th Five-Year Plan and released an industry development report. Nearly 500 companies, including Muyuan, CP Group, Yangxiang, Nongxin Digital, Huali Intelligent, Jingpeng Huanyu, Jiangsu Zhengchang, and Chengdu Xiaojuren, showcased intelligent equipment and digital technologies, presenting a panoramic view of cutting-edge applications in smart farming.

Highlight Five: Continuing the Public Welfare Promotion Activity of Livestock Food Tasting

The public welfare activity of tasting livestock products continued, focusing on promoting safe and high-quality livestock and poultry products, cultivating independent brands, conveying scientific and healthy consumption concepts, and helping to expand domestic demand and facilitate circulation.

Highlight Six: A Special Rural Revitalization Public Welfare Exhibition Area to Consolidate Poverty Alleviation Achievements and Support Rural Revitalization

Over 300 square meters of exhibition space will be provided free of charge to 17 units from five provinces and autonomous regions, including Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, showcasing models of agricultural cooperation and development, consolidating and expanding poverty alleviation achievements, and empowering rural revitalization.
